Every couple years, there comes a TV-show that all the nerd-wannabe hipsters love because it gets their dicks hard enough for them to jerk themselves off. There’s always that one show that all the edgy “enlightened” kids flock to watch because all the other cool kids are doing it. While that spot used to held by the uniquely autistic “Big Bang Theory”, Rick and Morty has surpassed The Big Bang theory in both the autism of the show’s content and the idiocy of the show’s fanbase.
If you’re one of the few sane people who are yet to watch the show, “Rick and Morty” follows the story of a young, not-so-smart young boy and an elderly man as they journey through a technologically advanced world filled with space travel, time travel, aliens, alternative universes and the like……… I wonder where I’ve seen this before:
That’s right, Rick and Morty is a rip-off of futurama and everyone knows it. If you are a Rick and Morty fan who has introduced the show to your friends, then you have no doubt heard them point out the infinitely numerous similarities between the two shows. Its like the writers of Rick and Morty are nostalgic fans of futurama who wanted to recreate their favorite show (without all the humor of course). Fun fact: The producers of Rick and Morty first pitched the idea for the show to the Fox channel and were turned down because it looked too much like futurama.
But there’s a big difference between Rick and Morty and futurama; the later at least has a coherent story. Rick and Morty doesn’t. Its just a bunch of short skits and overused jokes stringed together and fed to the fans. The fans eat it up because they are morons. Its as simple as that. There is no character development and the characters are, every single one of them, generic and one-dimensional.
How anyone can find an old guy burping endlessly and a young kid stammering during ever sentence funny is beyond me. But no.. no.. its not the show that is stupid, its the people who dislike it who just don’t “get it”. The show is just too deep for us to understand – I’ve actually heard some fans say this verbatim. If watching Rick and Morty doesn’t make you hate Rick and Morty, then interacting with the fan-base certainly will. In fact, this is what the average Rick and Morty fan sounds like:
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance.
The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons.
I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid.
While this copy pasta is definitely satire, I have no doubt in my mind that a Rick and Morty fan has repeated parts of it somewhere un-ironically; in fact, that is probably where the copy-pasta came from. Its not enough that they like the show, they have to shove it down every one else’s throat. As far as I’m concerned, Rick and Morty fans belong on the same level of autism as Homestuck fans, Steven Universe fans, pedophiles, Undertale fans, rapists, Big Bang Theory fans and terrorists.
