We are all familiar with the tales of Jessi Slaughter (real name: Jessica Leonhardt), a teenage Youtuber from Florida who became the target of a massive 4chan raid in July 2010 after launching a public tirade against the image board community in a series of YouTube videos. As most of us witnessed and according to Knowyourmeme, The feud quickly led to the creation of hundreds of image macros and remix videos mocking Jessica and her father, who later became involved in the drama, and prompted one of the first public discussions of cyber bullying as a serious issue in the news media. She later uploaded a video to YouTube complaining about internet trolls and harassers which only made her more of a target. The video also featured her dad, who appears in the video and delivers an angry rant, notable for containing the phrases “You done goofed,” “backtraced,” “cyberpolice,” and “consequences will never be the same.” It’s worth noting that her father was charged with child abuse back in 2011 (He had hit Jessi in the face).
Anonymous soon uncovered her personal information including phone number, address and her Twitter account. People soon began flooding the Leonhardt household with prank calls and hate mail. She was also the target of a massive prank back in 2010 when baseless rumors that “Jessi Slaughter Given PCP by Her Father” began to rise rapidly on YouTube and Google Trends. The malicious hoax was picked up by social bookmarking services and blogs, where it was soon revealed as mere disinformation propagated by the trolls. All things considered, its safe to say that Jessi slaughter has had her fill of Internet drama. She faded away from the spotlight and hasn’t been heard of since; until now. I was browsing through Tumblr the other day searching for Special snowflakes to fill my daily Cringe quota when I came across her profile. Her “about me” section reads:
“I’m a non-binary AFAB transperson, my pronouns are they/them. I used to be internet famous and go by the name “Jessi Slaughter”. My experiences have shaped me, I have bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder. I am also physically disabled, I have a compromised immune system, severe asthma, chronic migraines, and a skin condition. But I try to live as fully as I can. I enjoy art and music and food and going to cons and shows.
Ask me if you need anything tagged, I’ll be more than happy to tag it for you.”
If you are confused about what any of those words mean, check out our COMPLETE LIST OF ALL TUMBLR GENDERS for their definitions and the definitions of the other 300+ genders Tumblr has come up with. Her entire blog is full of the type of emo/goth/SJW content that you’d expect from someone who spends too much time on Tumblr and tries too hard to sound intelligent and philosophical. I’m not sure if this is an improvement on her former status of “Internet Dramarist,” or if her prior abuse and harassment experience made her into this. I just know that it’s really bad. Here’s the saddest part; This is probably not her final form.
