Donald Trump believes the media is corrupt and an enemy to the American people. George Takei disagrees, so he created a poll for his Twitter followers. What happens next will shock.
Shortly after landing at his holiday home in Florida – where he is spending a third consecutive weekend – President Trump lashed out at several news organisations.
“The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!” he wrote.
Trump, who regularly accuses the media of overstating his problems, has also accused journalists of failing to show sufficient respect for his accomplishments – including their coverage of a long-winded press conference on Thursday in which he voiced a litany of grievances against the industry.
His most recent Tweet accusing the media of being the “enemy of the American people” did not resonate very well with George Takei, so he created a poll for his followers.
“Trump says the media is the real enemy of the American people. So let’s take a poll. Who do you think does MORE HARM to the American people?” Takei Tweeted.
The Tweet received thousands of retweets and likes with over 66,000 votes just mere hours after he posted it.
However, with over 11 hours left of the tweet’s lifespan left, Takei decided to take it down. The reason: He didn’t get the responds he wanted. If he was expecting his followers to unanimously call Trump worse than the media, he was in for the surprise of his life.
In a strange Streisand effect twist, the fact that he deleted the Tweet only brought more attention to it.
His Twitter feed is now full of people criticizing him and asking him to bring back the Tweet.
